Pandora council approves water-bill forgiveness and addresses two extreme-use accounts

The Pandora Village Council approved a one-time calendar-year water-bill forgiveness for a resident whose January bill resulted from an undetected leak. The motion to approve the forgiveness request was made by Councilmember Fricke and seconded by Councilmember Dettrow; council voted unanimously.
Fiscal Officer Kimberly Reese reported two properties with extremely high usage during the billing cycle. One account showed 35,100 gallons; Reese said the resident had been contacted and would investigate. The other, a vacant property, registered 45,100 gallons, lacks a shutoff valve on the village side and is in the foreclosure process. Solicitor Scott Basinger was assigned to obtain contact information for the foreclosure bank. Reese said the village will need to determine where the water line enters the house and install a shutoff to prevent further loss.
In other community business, the Pandora United Methodist Church requested to hold Vacation Bible School at the park's open shelter house the week of July 14'18 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Council approved the request with a $25 rental fee and asked Fiscal Officer Reese to confirm with Rob Fawcett at UIS Insurance whether the church needs to add the village as an additional insured and to obtain proof of insurance if required.
Council adjourned after completing the agenda.
