Fire Chief Craig Fischer asked the Pandora Village Council on Jan. 28 for about $20,000 in funding to purchase equipment and improve storage at the village fire station, and he described facility needs including parking-lot repairs, new striping and no-parking signage.
Fischer told council that the station's new overhead doors have helped response times and reported 48 calls in 2024 (9 fires, 13 mutual-aid responses, 3 motor-vehicle accidents and 23 false alarms). He also said two new members recently joined the department and are completing certification.
"The new overhead doors have helped with response times," Fischer said in the meeting minutes when presenting the 2024 call statistics and improvement plans.
Separately, Mayor Jeremy Liechty delivered the 2025 State of the Village address, recounting 2024 developments: local efforts kept a childcare provider in Pandora after MCHO announced a closure, leading to the Putnam County business purchase and re-opening under the name Hilty Faithful Foundation Preschool & Child Care at Pendleton Plaza; Pendleton Plaza also gained a new business, The Nook Café & Bakery; and the village's new water tower entered service Aug. 26, 2024 after planning, engineering and funding approvals.
Liechty thanked village staff, council members and the village's engineering consultant for their roles in completing projects in 2024. The minutes note the meeting adjourned after the mayoral remarks.
