The Arlington City Council approved change order No. 2, the final change order and closeout for the Pickleball Court project, in the amount of $32,426.13.
Project manager Jim Kelly told the council the largest single cost was extra excavation and import of stormwater material caused by a calculation error in the quantity estimate; other items covered by the change order included installing a safety handrail, adding a stormwater inlet and topsoil/landscaping to improve site appearance.
Councilmember Nathan asked whether the excavation overrun was an oversight or the result of on-site discoveries. Kelly said the plan dimensions were correct but a calculation error in length×width×depth caused the need for additional excavation; tree removal and the extra inlet also added costs.
A councilmember moved to approve the change order and authorize the mayor to sign; the motion was seconded and carried.
The change order amount is $32,426.13 and represents the final closeout charge for the project as presented to the council.
