On funding, the engineer said he received notice that $882,000 was included in a federal transportation, housing and urban development funding bill that will go to the House floor for a vote in the coming months; he cautioned that local match requirements (he cited prior matches near 80%) and project inflation could affect the county's share and timing. He said the county would continue to monitor the bill and coordinate with the county——ngineer and local representatives.
The engineer also told the board his office submitted "payment number 2" in the amount of $214,389.40; the chair said that payment should appear in the day's claims. During remarks the engineer spoke an implausibly large aggregate figure while describing overall potential grant money; that number appears to be a verbal/transcription error and is recorded in the transcript as spoken but not treated as an audited figure.
Board members asked follow-up questions about whether the city partner has funding to proceed with engineering and whether the county should accelerate readiness work to avoid losing grant eligibility. The engineer said the county could consider short-term financing or staged reimbursement approaches in prior projects and would follow up with estimates for design and match responsibilities.
