Calhoun County supervisors approve sheriff agreement, memorial library plaque and joint drainage MOU

ROCKWELL CITY, Iowa — The Calhoun County Board of Supervisors on Sept. 2 approved several housekeeping and intergovernmental items, including an administrative-services agreement with the City of Lake City, a memorial plaque resolution for a county law library and a memorandum of understanding on joint drainage with neighboring Webster County.
Calhoun County Sheriff Pat Riley presented the Agreement for Administrative Services with the City of Lake City (28E filing number M518269), which the sheriff’s office said includes fees that will be reimbursed to Calhoun County. Supervisor Scott Jacobs moved to authorize the chair to sign the agreement; Supervisor Dave George seconded the motion and the board voted unanimously to approve it.
The board also adopted Resolution 2025-22 to approve a plaque for the Valerie Peterson Memorial Law Library. Supervisor Dave George moved the resolution and Supervisor Scott Jacobs seconded; the motion passed with unanimous approval.
Later in the meeting the board considered drainage matters. No additional drainage items were presented, but the supervisors approved Resolution 2025-23, a memorandum of understanding for joint drainage districts between Calhoun and Webster County. That motion (moved by Jacobs and seconded by George) carried on a unanimous vote.
The meeting record shows routine approvals of the agenda (adjusted to remove a scheduled appearance by Dave Cassens) and the minutes of the prior meeting; each procedural motion was adopted by unanimous vote. The board adjourned and set its next regular meeting for Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.
