Historic commission approves several small projects, endorses cemetery memorials and schedules continuances

The Dennis Old Kings Highway Regional Historic District commission handled a docket of routine applications and informal requests, approving several items by unanimous voice vote and offering verbal support for two cemetery monuments.
Approved items included: replacement windows at 2 Uncle Bob’s Way (presented by Charles Berkowitz of Renewal by Andersen), a one-car garage at 102 Beach Street, siding/roofing and like-for-like window replacement at 79 Horse Foot Path, demolition of the single-family dwelling at 22 Rockwood (demo-only), conversion of a retail building at 1661 Route 6A into two apartments (presented by architect Mark McDowell), and a sign for Rooted at 305 Holcomb Rock Road (applicant Emily Reeves was told tenant panels must meet the town’s 12-square-foot limit).
On monuments, a Historical Commission representative asked for the board’s support for two markers: a Daughters of the American Revolution sign proposed for Dennis Village Cemetery and a flush granite marker at Howe Cemetery honoring local Revolutionary War soldiers. The commission provided unanimous verbal support and noted the Department of Public Works and the Select Board will be part of later permitting steps.
The commission approved minutes from its Oct. 9 meeting at the start of the session. Two items were scheduled or continued: the Stephen Jones solar application was moved to Nov. 13 for further review, and Diane Fox’s pool-fence item was continued to Nov. 13 because the plans and plot were unclear.
Next steps: Applicants for approved projects will pursue building and sign permits as required; monument proposals will go to DPW and the Select Board for their approvals; continued items will appear on the Nov. 13 agenda.
