During its Nov. 19 meeting, Glassport Borough Council ratified the termination of employee #11824 and voted to fill vacancies in the police department by hiring three patrol officers to replace recently departed officers.
The termination was ratified on a motion by Councilman Paul Trunzo, seconded by Councilwoman Meghan DeVerse, with a recorded vote of Yes 6, No 0, Absent 1. Council later voted to hire three patrolmen on a motion by Dave Kowalski, seconded by Mark Stecak; that motion also carried unanimously with one absence recorded.
Council also adopted a Memorandum of Understanding with Teamsters Local No. 205 that changes terms in the Collective Bargaining Agreement for Glassport Police Department employees related to salaries and certain benefits. Separately, council approved a Memorandum of Understanding with Chief DeVerse to change holiday-pay terms for hours worked. Both memoranda were adopted by unanimous roll-call votes (Yes 6, No 0, Absent 1).
Council took these personnel and bargaining actions during the regular meeting; no contested debate or recorded dissent occurred in the minutes. The motions were recorded as carried and will be reflected in updated personnel records and the police department's collective-bargaining file.
