During the June 18 meeting, Borough Manager Elaina Skiba informed council that the Tri‑COG Land Bank now owns a set of properties the borough is preparing to list for sale to owner‑occupants and identified others awaiting sheriff sale.
Properties the manager said are now owned by the Land Bank and being listed for sale to owner‑occupants include 310 N. Monongahela Avenue, 316 5th Street, 435 Iowa Avenue and 626 Ohio Avenue. Properties awaiting sheriff sale were listed as 843 Delaware, 319 N. Monongahela Avenue and 311 Euclid Avenue.
Manager Skiba also said 250 letters were mailed to property owners about delinquent trash balances; accounts that do not respond will be turned over to a collection agency. Council authorized borough officials to sign Tri‑COG Land Bank proposed property disposition paperwork for 626 Ohio Avenue (motion by DeVerse, second Norelli; vote 5–0).
Why it matters: Land-bank dispositions can return vacant or blighted properties to owner‑occupant stewardship and affect neighborhood conditions; referring delinquent trash balances to collections can have financial and legal consequences for property owners.
What’s next: The disposition paperwork for 626 Ohio Avenue will be executed and properties will be listed as the land‑bank process continues. Properties on the sheriff‑sale list remain pending enforcement actions.
