Staff member told the select board that Town Clerk Terry Bunce provided the latest numbers for the presidential and state election: “As of this afternoon, 1,661 voters have early voted in person. 3,075 voters have returned their vote by mail ballots. 95 voters have returned their absentee ballots,” the staff member said, reporting a total of 4,831 ballots cast to date (about 36.01% of voters).
Staff member reviewed voting deadlines and locations: today was the last day to apply for a mailed ballot; early in-person voting continues through Friday, Nov. 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Paul Prude Conference Room at Dennis Town Hall. The last day and time to vote absentee in person is Monday, Nov. 4 at 12 noon.
Vote-by-mail ballots are accepted if they are: A) postmarked Nov. 5 and received no later than Nov. 8; B) dropped off at the town clerk's office; or C) dropped into the official ballot drop box located in front of Town Hall. Staff member said the drop box is emptied throughout the day and monitored by video surveillance 24/7.
Staff member urged residents who have not voted to plan to vote on Nov. 5 at their polling location; polling hours will be 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
