Caribou County commissioners approve claims, appointments and date changes; several procedural votes taken

The Caribou County Board of Commissioners at its Jan. 28 meeting approved claims totaling $129,344.98 and payroll claims totaling $267,075.23 and approved minutes of Jan. 14, 2013, after a motion by Commissioner Mark Mathews and a second by Commissioner Phil Christensen; Commissioners Earl Somsen, Christensen and Mathews voted yes.
The board denied indigent application 201313 "because the applicant did not complete the application and is not medically indigent," a motion moved by Commissioner Christensen and seconded by Commissioner Mathews. The motion passed unanimously. The board also denied application 201314 for the same reason, with the same recorded vote.
The commissioners voted to pay the medical on case 201310 contingent on Portneuf Medical Center paying the first two months' insurance premium, a motion moved by Commissioner Christensen and seconded by Commissioner Mathews that carried with unanimous recorded support. The transcript notes that Portneuf Medical Center withdrew its appeal on case 201306.
Commissioner Christensen moved and Commissioner Mathews seconded the appointment of Loren Smith to the Planning and Zoning Commission; Somsen, Christensen and Mathews voted yes. Commissioner Mathews moved (seconded by Christensen) to adjust previously set meeting dates: March 25 → March 26; June 10 → June 7; Sept. 23 → Sept. 20, 2013; the motion passed with the same recorded yes votes.
Several administrative approvals were recorded elsewhere on the agenda, including the board's agreement to advance $12,000 to Smith Roofing (the contractor had requested $18,000) and approval of a $5,000 one-year contract with John Chidester for an agricultural appraisal report requested by Assessor Aaron Cook. The meeting adjourned at 5:00 p.m.
