Caribou County commissioners validate four rural roads for county map

Commissioner Phil Christensen moved to validate Swenson Valley Road and its northerly spur, the Upper Valley (or Idaho Ranch) Road with the connector to Swenson Valley, and the 90 Road with its northerly spur; Commissioner Lloyd Rasmussen seconded and the motion carried with Commissioners Rasmussen, Somsen and Christensen voting yes.
Dennis Duehren of the Caribou-Targhee National Forest, joined by Road and Bridge Supervisor Kim Spencer, had presented the roads that were discussed at a previous meeting. Mr. Duehren and Ms. Spencer identified two other roads under consideration earlier in the meeting: Timber Creek Road (described in the record as “approximately 84 miles”) and Harrington Peak Road (described as “about 10 miles”); the board did not decide on those and said it would revisit them in the spring.
Why it matters: validating a road typically places it on the county map and enables county maintenance and inclusion in planning and budgeting.
