Caribou County schedules MSHA training and summer chip‑seal work, estimates $30,000 cost

Kim Spencer, Caribou County Road and Bridge Supervisor, reported at the Feb. 25 meeting that MSHA training is scheduled for March 12–13, 2013, with Dennis Godfrey as instructor. Spencer said the county plans chip‑seal and oiling work during the weeks of June 17 and June 24, using Bingham County’s spreader and tanker to support operations and estimating the county’s bill at approximately $30,000.
Spencer also reported crews were active Feb. 23–24 responding to wind‑related snow events. She said she is still collecting information on radiant heating options for county shop buildings. The board discussed snow removal operations on Blackfoot River Road but made no decision at the meeting.
The board did not take additional action on the estimated chip‑seal cost at the meeting; staff indicated further planning and procurement steps remain before contracting.
