Parkway Local board approves consultant contract, staff hires, resignations and coaching appointments

At its Aug. 13 meeting the Parkway Local Board of Education approved a consulting contract, accepted two teacher aide resignations, issued multiple cafeteria and substitute contracts, and approved a slate of supplemental coaches and advisors (supplementals passed 4-1).
The Parkway Local Board of Education on Aug. 13 approved a range of personnel actions that school leaders said are intended to staff operations for the 2025-26 school year.
The board approved Resolution No. 2508004, moved by Amanda Peel and seconded by Mark Kimmel, which bundled contracts, resignations and personnel appointments. The motion covered a consultant contract for Ken Amstutz not to exceed 200 hours commencing Aug. 1, 2025; acceptance of resignations from teacher’s aides Melissa Sinning (effective end of the 2024-25 contract year) and Emily Deere (effective immediately); and one-year cafeteria-worker contracts for Kara Stachler (placed at 2 years’ experience on the salary schedule), Gerelyn Moeller (20 years), and Angela Kline (8 years). The board also amended Dianna Poppe’s contract to Head Cook for 2025-26.
The consent items included operational approvals: the proposed bus routes for the 2025-26 school year and any necessary changes due to family relocations, approval of bus driver and van driver certificates for regular and substitute drivers, and a contract agreement with Van Wert City School District at the Goedde for the 2025-26 school year. The board approved paying Casey Nuttle $30 per hour for technology help during the school year and accepted substitute teacher lists provided by the Mercer County Educational Service Center and the district.
The board named Suzanne Staley lead mentor for 2025-26 with a $500 stipend and approved mentor pairings for new teachers. It also approved Allison Luginbill as a part-time athletic trainer at a rate of $40 per hour and authorized a one-year full-time substitute teacher contract for Kendra Eymer effective at the start of 2025-26 pending certification through the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
A separate portion of the consent items set out supplemental coaching and advisor positions for the 2025-26 school year (volunteer and contract roles including varsity and middle school coaches, weight-room coordinators, National Honor Society co-advisors, drama club co-advisors and others). That slate passed on a recorded vote of 4-1 (Call, yes; Kimmel, yes; Nichols, no; Peel, yes; Schoenleben, yes); Les Nichols cast the sole no vote. The minutes list the approved supplemental appointments by name, including Todd Henkle (Varsity Volleyball Assistant Volunteer Coach), Edward Kuhn and Barry Peel III (Co-Weight Room Coordinators), Zachary Bates (Middle School Boys’ Basketball Coach), Scott Steinbrunner (Varsity Baseball Head Coach) and others.
The board did not provide salary amounts for most individual contracts in the minutes. Several items (for example the consultant hours cap, the mentor stipend and the athletic trainer hourly rate) were specified in the motion text recorded in the minutes.
The meeting was held in the district Community Room; the board returned from an executive session on personnel matters before approving these superintendent consent items.
