The Chattahoochee County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously March 4 to authorize filing a Fiscal Year 2025 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application to the Georgia Department of Community Affairs for up to $1,000,000 for a community facilities program.
In a separate unanimous vote the board obligated $47,500 in county funds as the required match and leverage for the possible grant award, contingent on the county receiving the CDBG funding. The resolution directs the chair to execute the documents and provide any additional information DCA requires.
The board also reviewed aLetter of Agreement from the River Valley Regional Commission (RC), which agreed to prepare and submit the CDBG application and to provide related technical and management assistance. The RC letter notes administrative costs associated with application preparation and states a $750 fee for a new application ($500 for a rewrite) to be paid by the local government if the county proceeds.
County Manager Thomas Weaver said staff will continue to supply data and assist RC in household surveys and other collection tasks requested for the grant application. The board recorded the motions and approvals as unanimous.
What happens next: RC will complete and submit the application on the county’s behalf; if an award is made the county will be responsible for the pledged match and for executing any required implementation contracts or administration agreements.
