Quincy council lists pandemic funds for transfer into general fund; declines action on marijuana letter

Quincy council adopted an ordinance Oct. 1 to list funds received during the 2022–23 COVID period so they can be transferred into the General Fund to reimburse eligible expenditures.
John Hickman moved to adopt the ordinance and Sheryl Hatfield seconded; the verbal vote was John Hickman Aye, Robert Ward Aye, Dawn Smith Aye, Sheryl Hatfield Aye, Millard Shaffer Aye, and Paul Brown Aye. The minutes state that passing the ordinance enables transfers to reimburse pandemic-related expenses.
Council also reviewed a letter about growing and cultivating marijuana and decided not to act at this time. Earlier in the meeting the council approved Sept. 17 minutes (Dawn Smith abstained due to absence) and authorized payment of the presented bills (motion by John Hickman; second Dawn Smith; unanimous yes).
Mayor Daniel Robinson noted planned vacations in October (Robinson Oct. 12–28; Fiscal Officer Sandra Ward Oct. 21–27; Robert Ward concurrent) and designated John Hickman to act as mayor and preside over the Oct. 15 meeting. The meeting adjourned at 8:49 p.m.
