Board approves SPLOST account, LMIG road change, reappoints planning members and creates Public Safety Director position

At the Feb. 4, 2025 regular meeting of the Commission of the Unified Government of Cusseta‑Chattahoochee County the board recorded a series of routine motions and approvals.
The board approved opening a 2025 SPLOST bank account and approved an LMIG project change moving funding from Riverbend Road to Friendship Road, both by unanimous vote. The Commission reappointed Randy Register, Teresa Smith and Willie Brown to the Planning & Zoning Board and approved creating a Public Safety Director position; motions were seconded and recorded as unanimous. The board also approved minutes from the Jan. 7 regular and executive meetings and the Jan. 27 work‑session and executive minutes, with Vice‑Chairman Timothy Biddle abstaining on items related to the Jan. 7 meeting because he was absent from that meeting.
An executive session to discuss legal matters was convened at 6:11 p.m.; the board reconvened at 7:07 p.m. and Chairman Coffey said the closed‑session topics fell within the legal exceptions to the open‑meetings law and that no votes were taken while in executive session.
Those motions and votes set the county’s administrative track for SPLOST spending, road project bidding and interim planning board composition. Specific spending allocations, bid dates and hiring timelines were not specified in the meeting minutes and remain to be set by staff and subsequent agenda items.
