The Unified Government of Cusseta–Chattahoochee County Board of Commissioners on Dec. 3 approved a set of administrative items and appointments and directed other matters to further study.
The commission appointed Nancy Hoard (term to Jan. 1, 2025–Dec. 31, 2028), Valerie Lassiter (term to Dec. 31, 2026) and Crystal Walker (term to Dec. 31, 2028) to the county Board of Elections. Commissioners recorded a recusal by Commissioner Timothy Biddle on one appointment vote; other motions carried as presented.
Commissioners unanimously approved the 2025 employee holiday calendar and adopted a 2025 meeting calendar after a tie on the work‑session time was broken by Chairman Charles Coffey. The adopted schedule lists regular meetings alternating between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. across 2025 and designates work sessions for the fourth Monday of each month at 9:00 a.m., unless otherwise advertised.
On other agenda items, the board tabled cemetery bylaws until a future work session, agreed to review sheriff vehicle needs and fleet status before making purchases, and added several items to the Jan. 7, 2025 meeting agenda including a zoning renewal contract and the county attorney engagement letter (the county attorney told the board he has joined new firm Clark Hill; the engagement letter was added for formal consideration).
A motion to purchase a sheriff’s vehicle was discussed at the Dec. 23 work session but commissioners concluded the immediate need was not justified and did not place an interceptor replacement or Tahoe procurement on the Jan. 7 agenda. County Manager Thomas Weaver provided a vehicle inventory and said the county would need only one replacement vehicle once some leased vehicles are returned.
The board entered executive session on legal matters during both the Dec. 3 regular meeting and the Dec. 23 work session and reconvened each time with no votes cast in closed session.
Administrative follow‑ups from the meeting include: the county clerk’s office to record the new Board of Elections appointments, planning staff to record the CUP file for 105 Mustang Dr., and county staff to prepare any materials for the planned review of conditional‑use procedures.
