Cusseta'Chattahoochee Commission adopts 8.512 millage rate after two public hearings

The Commission of the Unified Government of Cusseta'Chattahoochee County voted to set the 2024 county millage rate at 8.512 mills following two advertised public hearings and discussion at the Aug. 26 work session.
Chairman Charles Coffey opened the hearings and, speaking at the Aug. 26 session, said the county's gross tax digest "increased just slightly, just short of 64 million," and reminded residents that the five-year digest history is available for public review. County Manager Thomas Weaver told the commission the recommended county rate is essentially unchanged from last year and noted the school rate remains 17.30 mills.
No members of the public spoke at the called hearing on Aug. 19; the second hearing on Aug. 26 also drew no public comments, and commissioners moved to adopt the 8.512 millage rate as presented. Weaver said the county published the notice in the newspaper and on the county website before the hearings.
The hearings and adoption conclude the locally required public notice process. The commission said members of the public may inspect the digest and supporting documents at county offices.
