Jim Fletcher, Executive Director of Converse County Aging Services, and representatives from the Douglas and Glenrock Senior Centers briefed the commissioners on transportation challenges facing elderly residents who need dialysis outside Douglas. Fletcher described program successes and noted safety, liability, training and staffing constraints that limit service options, especially when weather complicates travel.
The discussion included collaboration with Memorial Hospital of Converse County and other organizations, training limitations, personnel concerns and risk-management measures. Commissioners heard the operational constraints but took no formal action during the meeting.
