Mayor Trey Gunn’s recommendations carried across several votes. The board appointed Brian Grantham as mayor pro‑tem (Grantham abstained on that vote); Bobby Lingold as city attorney and prosecutor; Engineering Service as city engineer; Linda Wigley as city clerk; Windham & Lacey, PLLC as municipal auditors; Brad Burns as police chief; Melissa McCue as court clerk; Kevin Stewart as municipal judge; Witney Adams as judge pro‑tem; and Greg Hemphill as indigent attorney. The motions to confirm those positions were recorded as carried by the board, with the one recorded abstention on the mayor pro‑tem appointment.
In a separate motion the board voted unanimously to make the mayor’s position full‑time beginning Aug. 1, 2025, at an annual salary of $70,000. The motion was made by Alderman John Banks and seconded by Alderman Mason Herrin.
The meeting also included routine administrative approvals: the board approved Fiscal Year Ending 09/30/2025 Budget Amendment #1 and authorized the surplus and disposal of non‑functioning office equipment, both by unanimous vote.
The board approved the claims docket in a separate vote. The minutes of June 17, 2025 were approved with Aldermen Kyle Martin and Brent Sistrunk recorded as abstaining on that item.
The board adjourned after returning from an executive session held to address personnel and litigation matters.
