Council authorizes one additional Electric Line Worker position; CIP to be reviewed during budget

On Feb. 10 the Washington City Council authorized the City Manager to approve one additional Electric Line Worker Third Class position in the Electric Department Transmission and Distribution (T&D) division.
The position is classified at paygrade 20 with a salary range of $47,814 to $80,916; the anticipated hiring salary was listed as $50,000, and total annual cost including benefits was estimated at $75,078. Councilmembers said adding the position will allow the T&D division to field a three-man service crew to install and maintain underground services while construction crews focus on infrastructure betterments and new builds. The motion was made by Councilmember Antwan Horton and seconded by Councilmember Richard Brooks.
City Manager Jonathan Russell also noted the capital improvement plan (CIP) is a working list for the budget and will be discussed in depth during the upcoming budget process.
