North Haven board praises transfer-station overhaul; staff to pursue corrective action plan

Members discussed launching a summer hazardous-waste collection day and noted that island logistics (ferry transport) affect contractor availability and timing.
Operational details raised included the high disposal cost of fluorescent bulbs (box pricing noted) and the need to manage oil/waste-oil storage to prevent spills; members asked staff to include these line items in the corrective plan. Trustees suggested re-constituting a transfer-station committee to provide oversight if the board decides ongoing review is needed.
The board thanked transfer-station staff by name for the cleanup effort and asked staff to provide before-and-after photos and a timeline for residual items to be resolved before the next inspector visit.
