Planners report progress on Royalton Rd construction, nursing‑home renovation and subdivision activity

City Planner Ian Russell briefed the Building & Building Codes Committee Sept. 16 on several active development projects in North Royalton, including roadway work on Royalton Road near York tied to a commercial warehouse, interior renovation plans for the Pavilion nursing home (formerly Mt. Royal Villa), and commercial permit activity for a Human Bean drive‑through and Key Bank interior renovations.
Russell said Harley Hills Creekside is nearing completion and scheduling a final engineering walkthrough; Valley Vista has mobilized onsite and completed some tree clearing while permits await remaining engineering items. He confirmed Woodland Bend remains a 17‑lot project and that the former Albion school property has preliminary site plan approval and is being tracked as "Albion Park" in staff materials.
Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz said the city is pursuing funds for a preliminary safety study of Route 82 and has the project in the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA) long‑term plans; he said federal appropriations and matching funds from state and regional partners would be needed to advance the work. Russell added that the city previously applied for a TLCI sidewalk grant (State Road from Wallings to Lisa Lane) but was not selected and plans to resubmit.
Most commercial work described involved interior renovations or preliminary site‑plan activity; Russell said some projects await contractor identification or final engineering clearance before permits are issued. Staff continue to coordinate scheduling with engineering and Planning Commission as projects move through final plat and permit stages.
