Service Director honored on retirement; succession plan and summer public-works steps outlined

Mayor Dunphy read a proclamation honoring Service Director Mark Lipan for 27 years of service and thanked him for his tenure.
Mr. Lipan reported that Ben Gregory has been in training to take over as Service Director and that Gregory has had extensive recent training; Mr. Lipan said the village will be in good hands. Lipan also said the Service Department has been preparing roads for upcoming cold milling and resurfacing work and will soon resume searching for lead service lines.
Mr. Lipan confirmed a new hire will begin on June 2. The mayor said Mike Anderson will move to Assistant Service Director and Charles Burgan will fill the Village mechanic role. Council reviewed three bids for street sweeping and accepted the lowest and best bid from Southwest Sweeping at $2,250 per sweep (planned every other month May through September); staff noted an appropriation amendment will be required.
Council also discussed ongoing fiber installation (contractor still working in Stow), a resident-owned dog-waste station on Kent Road, and sound-wall inquiries to the Ohio Department of Transportation that have not yet received a response. The council agreed to proceed with the summer street-sweeping schedule.
