Council adopted Ordinance 39-2025 on May 19 to amend the Village of Silver Lake zoning map to reflect changes since the map’s 1994 adoption.
Phil Kaplan described three specific items that require additional research before finalizing the map changes: Crystal Lake address listings that may not be correctly reflected, several FirstEnergy parcels that appear to have been classified from commercial to residential, and house numbers on Vincent Road that were removed because they are outside the village boundary. Mr. Kaplan noted discussion about institutional areas and said Planning & Zoning committee recommendations will follow.
During the discussion Mr. Scott asked whether the nearby Bike and Hike Trail is owned by the Metroparks; Service Director Mark Lipan replied that Metroparks leases the property from FirstEnergy. Council suspended the rules and adopted the zoning map amendment by a 7-0 roll-call vote.
Staff will follow up with the Planning & Zoning committee to finalize boundary and classification changes before publishing a revised map.
