Silver Lake reports Parkwood Drive water-main break, Vacall financing and a 9% rise in sewage-treatment costs

Service Director Mark Lipan told council that Village Hall projects and fleet cleanup followed recent snowfall and that crews responded to another water main break on Parkwood Drive. Lipan also referenced an annual Ohio EPA audit requirement for homes with private wells and discussed lead-service-line concerns raised during the discussion.
Clerk-Treasurer Sean Housley said the Vacall financing agreement is complete and will require a $300,000 down payment once the vehicle is finished. He told council there is currently no appropriation for the Harriett Road sidewalk project but he expects an appropriation amendment by the March 17 meeting. Housley also reported sewage-treatment costs increased about 9% compared with 2023 and that 114 residents will receive letters for non-filing of income-tax forms with the Regional Income Tax Agency.
What’s next: Housley plans to present the appropriation amendment for Harriett Road at the March 17 meeting, and council will monitor the lead-service-line and water-main repairs as work continues.
