Silver Lake council ratifies vehicle sale, confirms two service-department appointments and accepts routine financial reports

At its June 16 meeting, the Village of Silver Lake Council approved several routine measures: ratifying the sale of a 2011 Ford Escape, confirming two service-department appointments, and accepting financial reports.
Finance chair Suzanne Garrett presented Ordinance 45 to ratify the Service Director’s sale at public auction of a 2011 Ford Escape; Council suspended the rules and adopted the ordinance unanimously (Yes 7, No 0).
Personnel & Public Affairs chair Betsy Meyer introduced Ordinance 49, appointing Michael Anderson as Assistant Service Director at step 2, effective June 2, 2025, and Ordinance 50, appointing Charles Burgan to Service Worker II/Mechanic at step 2. Mayor Dunphy explained that Anderson’s anniversary and step increases will be marked from June 2 and that the change in classification affects longevity pay calculations. Council approved both appointments by unanimous votes.
Clerk-Treasurer Sean Housley reported that year-to-date income-tax receipts total about $587,000 (roughly $32,000 above 2024), water collections are about $251,000 (up about $26,000), and sewer collections are approximately $352,000 (up about $18,000). Finance chair Garrett moved and council accepted the Check Report (ending June 10) and the Statement of Cash Position for May 31, 2025.
Service Director Ben Gregory noted that Superior Drainage performed sewer-line imaging at multiple locations (Chautauqua Drive, Silver Lake Boulevard sinkhole area and Parkwood Drive) and that further investigation is underway for a potential leaking water main on Parkwood Drive. Gregory also said some equipment staged near Vincent Road and Lakeland Parkway belongs to Enbridge; village staff will monitor resident complaints.
All routine measures passed without objection. Council set the next meeting for July 7, 2025.
