York also said the library has been coordinating with the Conservation Commission and local partners, and that plantings and irrigation work would be scheduled after the pathway is completed, possibly in the fall depending on site conditions.
Assistant Director Jen Dolly described the programmatic tie‑ins: the pathway aligns with summer reading themes about planting and pollinators and creates outdoor educational opportunities for school partnerships, scouts and library programs. The library also announced a summer reading kickoff and a "touch‑a‑truck" event with food trucks and children’s activities; organizers said the parking lot will be closed after 3:00 p.m. for some events and police detail will help with traffic control.
Separately, the board heard final logistics for Old Home Day, scheduled for the coming weekend: the Lions Club road race, a parade stepping off at about 2 p.m., 90+ vendors, a baby contest, a beard-and-mullet contest, live music, a canine demonstration by the Plaistow Police Department and fireworks around 10:00 p.m. Organizers asked for volunteers and noted some crowd‑control measures (no dogs on the green; limited bicycle traffic for safety of older attendees). The committee said a fundraiser helped fund the fireworks; it will post updates and closures to the event Facebook page.
The library project and the Old Home Day planning drew general support from selectmen; no board action was required for the pathway announcement beyond information and coordination with town departments.
