Northfield to get new pavement markings; recreation events set and two council meetings canceled

At the Sept. 28 Village of Northfield council meeting Engineer Daniel Collins reported that the 2022 Pavement Markings Program contractor has commenced work.

Mayor Jennifer Domzalski also outlined upcoming Recreation Board activities: the board will meet Oct. 5; on Oct. 15 the board will feature the 1988 film Killer Clowns from Outer Space, described as an adult‑themed movie; the Village Giving Tree Program will open sign-ups Oct. 1 with anonymous assistance requests included in the village's sewer-bill mailing; and Trick-or-Treat is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 30, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a Police Station Party occurring during that time.
Mayor Domzalski announced village offices will be closed Oct. 10 for Columbus Day and promoted a grand opening for Xero Events on Oct. 20 (soft opening Oct. 22).
On a motion by Councilmember Renell Noack, seconded by Kevin Lewis, council voted to cancel the Nov. 23 and Dec. 28, 2022 council meetings for the holidays. The roll-call vote as recorded in the minutes was: Mr. Ferko—yes; Ms. Noack—yes; Mr. Vojtush—yes; Mr. Magistrelli—yes; Mr. Hipps—yes; Mr. Lewis—yes. The motion passed.
Earlier in the meeting council approved the minutes from Sept. 14, 2022 on a motion by Noack, seconded by Hipps; roll call recorded Mr. Ferko—yes; Ms. Noack—yes; Mr. Vojtush—abstain; Mr. Magistrelli—yes; Mr. Hipps—yes; Mr. Lewis—yes.
Council adjourned at 7:41 p.m. after a motion by Alan Hipps, seconded by Kevin Lewis; roll call recorded unanimous yes votes as listed in the minutes.
