The Village of Northfield Council on Nov. 9 unanimously approved three emergency resolutions confirming Mayor Jennifer Domzalski’s appointments of Ashley Allen, James Armstrong and Derek Fuhrmann as part-time firefighter/paramedics. The council suspended the three-reading rule and adopted the appointments in two unanimous roll-call votes.
The action fills part-time staffing needs in the Fire Department and was handled on an expedited basis during the regular council meeting. Councilmember Gary Vojtush moved to suspend the three-reading rule for Resolutions 2022-56 through 2022-58; Alan Hipps seconded the motion, and the roll-call votes recorded all members present voting yes. Vojtush then moved to adopt the resolutions; Hipps seconded and the adoption passed by the same unanimous roll call.
Chief Jason Buss introduced the appointees after the resolutions were approved and the new firefighters took the oath of office. The council did not record a public debate on the appointments during the meeting record.
