Public Works Director Todd Cole told the City of Republic Council on Feb. 17 that a water leak on Hesse Boulevard has been repaired and that crews (three plow trucks and one sander) were actively servicing city streets. Cole said the business Stonerose has about 40–50 yards of shale fill material available for street repairs and is open to a trade agreement to provide that material; the council asked staff to follow up on the proposal.
Cole also reported that the city’s new intern, Kadance Jansen, has started and is already assisting Public Works. Clerk-Treasurer Nick Olsen reported that the Water System Plan has been submitted to the Department of Health, and Council asked the city attorney to work on an updated fee-and-rate ordinance after staff compiled a single worksheet of current fees.
Councilmember Liz Stinson raised park maintenance concerns, noting that Patterson Park’s court has crumbling concrete and chipped paint in the center; she said she is researching repair and repaint options to extend the surface’s lifespan. A Patterson Park retaining-wall walkthrough is scheduled for the following day to identify additional work for Job Corps. The meeting record shows these items as discussion and direction; no formal motions or project funding for repairs were recorded at the Feb. 17 meeting.
