Ferry County Sheriff Deputy Sam Shipman reported to the council that the county sheriff’s office is coordinating with Forget Me Not Animal Shelter to address stray-dog problems at Eastside Trailer Court. He said one dog was picked up and taken to the shelter, and that the trailer-court residents have been more careful about keeping dogs inside or confined to yards since the pickup.
Deputy Shipman also told the council the Sheriff's Department has received reports of an individual sleeping in the Post Office lobby and is working with the Post Office to address that concern.
Council members received the department head report; no formal actions or ordinances were proposed at the meeting to change animal-control policy or Post Office procedures.
