City of Republic approves $3,515 for weed spraying and appoints advisory board member

The City of Republic Council unanimously approved $3,515.51 to contract the Ferry County Weed Board to spray city streets, alleys and sidewalks, and recorded the appointment of Pat Simino to the Housing Authority Advisory Board at its Feb. 17 regular meeting.
The Council voted to approve the consent agenda, which included payroll check #4441 for $831.15, accounts payable checks #66044–66062 totaling $30,199.90, and a county transmittal of $1,260.22. The weed-spraying cost—$2,500 for streets and alleyways plus $1,015.51 for sidewalks—was presented by Rochelle Osborne of the Ferry County Weed Board; after a motion by Councilmember Mari Jo Olsen and a second from Councilmember Marty Rugo the funding was approved unanimously.
Mayor Pro Tem Liz Stinson reviewed correspondence including a letter of interest from Pat Simino to serve on the Housing Authority Advisory Board and appointed Simino during the meeting; minutes do not record a separate roll-call vote on that appointment. The meeting minutes note routine procedural approvals and list the motion to adjourn passing unanimously at 5:20 p.m.
The Ferry County Weed Board representative also announced a pesticide-certification workshop scheduled for March 25, 2026, which offers three continuing-education credits for those holding pesticide certification.
