Friends of the Republic Library report site-prep planning as council OKs survey contract

Emily Burt of Friends of the Republic Library told the City Council that FORL has met with Turner & Townsend Heery to plan site-preparation work for a new library this year and that a topographic map and survey are needed to solicit bids.
Clerk-Treasurer Nick Olsen recommended contracting directly with surveyor George Stolp, who previously completed a survey and a boundary-line adjustment for the parcel. Councilmember Mari Jo Olsen moved to contract Stolp to produce the topographic map; Councilmember Marty Rugo seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The council’s approval responds to FORL’s near-term need to have accurate site plans in order to issue bid documents for site preparation. With Stolp’s prior work on the parcel, city officials said direct contracting should speed delivery of the map and keep the project on the schedule discussed in public comment.
Next steps: Stolp will prepare the topographic map and survey so the city can put site-prep work out to bid in the coming months. The council did not set a formal construction timeline at this meeting.
