Northfield finance director reports BWC audit clean, warns of $10,000 early true-up; mid-year budget review set

Finance Director and Clerk of Council Jennifer Potvin presented financial statements through May and said the Village’s finances are where they should be for the time of year.
Ms. Potvin told the council the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation audit is complete and that audit review found Village records "in proper order." She said the BWC is instituting an early true-up this year that will require the Village to make a roughly $10,000 payment next month rather than in August; she noted the accelerated payment and audits may be a response to large COVID-era refunds received by many Ohio communities.
Ms. Potvin said she plans to hold a mid-year budget review with the Mayor and Council next month. Mayor Jennifer Domzalski proposed changing public hours at the Ledge Road building to 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and requiring appointments outside those hours. The council voted to schedule the mid-year budget review for 6:30 p.m. on July 27 and to cancel the Regular Council Meetings on July 27 and Aug. 10 for the summer recess; the motion was made by Renell Noack, seconded by Gary Vojtush and approved by unanimous roll-call vote.
Ms. Potvin also noted the regular bi-annual fiscal audit is in process.
