Northfield engineer reports completion milestones on Vincent Avenue and near-completion of Coventry project

Village engineer Dan Collins reported the Vincent Avenue asphalt phase is complete with final grading and seeding remaining, the Coventry Project is 99% complete pending a final asphalt course, ODOT Route 8 microsurfacing is scheduled for September, and several pavement-marking and Cambridge Drive bids are out.
Village Engineer Dan Collins told council on Aug. 24 that the asphalt portion of the Vincent Avenue Pavement Extension Project is complete; final grading, seeding and strawing remain and a dedication plat will be presented to council soon, with house construction expected in the spring. Collins said the Coventry Project is 99% complete, a contractor punch list has been issued and a final asphalt course is pending; he will submit a $150,000 community cost-share bill to the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District.
Collins also reported that ODOT’s microsurfacing project on Route 8 is scheduled to begin in September, new signage requested on Ledge Road has been installed, specifications for the pavement-markings contract are completed and awaiting bids, and surveying for the Cambridge Drive reconstruction project has been put out for bid to support work planned for 2024. Service Superintendent Jason Walters praised contractor Tri-Mor for work on the Coventry Project and said the service department recently completed sidewalk cleanup, prompting council to schedule a Roads and Public Works Committee meeting for Sept. 14 to review the sidewalk ordinance and grant opportunities from ODOT.
Council did not take final construction awards at the meeting; Collins and Walters said they will return with bid results and any required dedication plats or contract actions for council consideration.
