Mayor Wheeler asked council to confirm his appointment of Adrianna Corona as a full‑time police dispatcher, and council voted unanimously to approve the appointment at the Jan. 20, 2026 meeting.
Police Chief Swanson summarized Corona's qualifications: she graduated from Lake High School in Uniontown, has been a full‑time dispatcher at the Summit County Emergency Communications Center since April 2024 and previously at Bath Township Police Department since February 2022, giving her four years of full‑time dispatch experience. Chief Swanson said Corona has cleared departmental background checks and an outside assessment and that, if approved, she will be sworn in by Mayor Wheeler in early February.
The dispatch position was approved by council for 2026 to maintain two dispatchers on each shift. During the police report, Chief Swanson also noted the department received $12,091.50 in reimbursement grant funding from the Ohio Attorney General's Office to cover part of 2025 training for topics including use of force, ethics law, trauma and officer wellness, domestic violence, vehicle dynamics and leadership.
Following the appointment, Councilmember Campbell asked Chief Swanson for a comparison of calls for service between January 2026 and January 2025; Chief Swanson agreed to provide the comparison.
