Lindenhurst Mayor Dominic Marturano presided over a brief Village Board meeting on March 22, 2021, at which trustees approved meeting minutes, authorized $210,804.44 in bills and approved a master vendor list for the FY 2021–22 budget process.
Trustee Dawn Suchy moved to approve the minutes of the March 8, 2021 regular meeting; Trustee Pat Dunham seconded and the board voted 5–0 (Trustees Bill Anderson, Pat Dunham, Patty Chybowski, Dawn Suchy and Heath Rosten) to adopt the minutes. The board then voted 5–0 to approve the second set of March bills totaling $210,804.44 for invoices due on or before March 22, 2021, following a motion from Trustee Pat Dunham and a second from Trustee Bill Anderson.
During board and staff reports, Trustee Dawn Suchy said the Lindenhurst Park District will hold an Easter Egg Hunt on March 27 at 10:00 a.m., noting pre-registration is required. Trustee Pat Dunham announced that the Veteran’s Commission plans an in-person Memorial Day ceremony at the Veteran’s Memorial at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 31.
Chief Jones reported that Lindenhurst officers continued to participate on the Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) and the Lake County Major Crime Task Force, both of which experienced a high rate of incidents last year; Chief Jones recognized Officer Kaminski and Officer Robles for their service. Chief Jones said department staff are monitoring pending police reform legislation and preparing to meet requirements scheduled to take effect in July 2021. Mayor Marturano added that the Lake County Municipal League is monitoring related bills and offered thanks on behalf of the board and staff to the officers named.
Under new business, staff proposed an omnibus procedure for requesting updated prices and agreements from vendors and contractors to inform the draft FY 2021–22 budget. The board approved the proposed master vendor list and authorized Village Administrator Clay Johnson to update service agreements as needed; meeting materials note this process does not replace formal bidding for major public works such as the Lindenhurst Drive Depressional Storage project or the Grand Avenue Sidewalk Extension.
No members of the public spoke during the public comment period. Trustee Patty Chybowski moved to adjourn; Trustee Dawn Suchy seconded and the board adjourned at 7:14 p.m. The minutes are attested by Mayor Dominic Marturano and Village Clerk Jody Stoughtenger.
