Lindenhurst board approves $1.05 million in bills, proclaims Arbor Day and notes local developments

The Lindenhurst Village Board met March 8, 2021, approved routine minutes and authorized payments totaling $1,049,977.01 for invoices due on or before March 8. Mayor Dominic Marturano called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m., and a roll-call vote recorded six trustees present.
Trustee Dawn Suchy moved and Trustee Patty Chybowski seconded to approve the minutes from the Feb. 22 meeting; the motion carried 6-0. Trustee Pat Dunham moved and Trustee Bill Anderson seconded to approve the first set of March bills in the amount of $1,049,977.01; that motion also passed 6-0.
Village Treasurer Carrie Eggleston read the February 2021 Treasurer's Report, reporting total funds across all accounts of $8,962,386.28 as of Feb. 28. Trustee Pat Dunham moved and Trustee Dawn Suchy seconded to accept the treasurer's report; the board approved the motion 6-0.
During board and staff reports Trustee Bill Anderson asked about how residents can locate COVID-19 vaccine clinics and whether the Village can request a mass vaccination event. Village Administrator Clay Johnson advised residents to contact the Lake County Health Department, sign up via the Lake County AllVax portal or at local pharmacies; he said the Village had not been informed of a process to request a mass clinic but that staff remains in regular contact with the county. Mayor Marturano added that municipalities are sharing information through the Lake County Municipal League.
Trustee Pat Dunham said the Veterans Commission is discussing holding an in-person Veterans Day ceremony at the Village's Veteran's Memorial. Mayor Marturano thanked the Police Department for participating in a neighborhood block party; Administrator Clay Johnson reported, on behalf of Chief Jones, that Officers Cantwell and Rytina completed field training and are now on solo patrol. Johnson also reported that nine building permits were issued in February for single-family homes in the Briargate development.
The board proclaimed April 30, 2021 as Arbor Day in Lindenhurst to reaffirm the Village's commitment to maintaining its community tree canopy and Tree City USA status. The proclamation was approved by motion, 6-0.
The meeting adjourned at 7:19 p.m. after a motion by Trustee Patty Chybowski, seconded by Trustee Dawn Suchy; the adjournment passed 6-0.
