Board tables Marchiselli local-match authorization; schedules public hearing on term-length local law

The Town Board on May 14 tabled Resolution 2026-05-48, which would have implemented and funded the town’s local share for a DOT Federal-Aid "Marchiselli" transportation project, citing uncertainty about the source of the 20% local match.
Councilperson Sabo asked where the 20% would be paid from. Town Attorney Nia Cholakis said the item was an additional DOT step on a project DOT has already started and that the board had previously voted on related items. Comptroller Eryn Foster said he was still finalizing budget calculations with the auditor and that the local match would likely come from contingency lines across highway, water, sewer and the general fund. After discussion Councilperson Gordon moved to table Resolution 2026-05-48; the motion carried by roll call.
Separately the board approved Resolution 2026-05-50 to hold a public hearing on a local law to change two-year terms to four-year terms for certain town offices. Attorney Nia Cholakis explained the town will not assign a local-law number until after the November election to avoid losing a numbering slot if the measure fails; board members discussed turnout and past results.
By tabling the Marchiselli funding resolution the board signaled it will not commit local funds until the comptroller and auditor complete budget reviews and provide a definitive funding plan.
