Members of the Shelburne Community and Economic Development Committee on May 27 approved a sample "mick-up" pitch-sheet template intended for a property inventory of parcels that are currently on the market and could support industrial, commercial or housing projects. Brian Precourt said working group members will be assigned to draft additional mock-ups and reach out to other landowners about inclusion.
Art Friedman provided an update on consultant due diligence for master planning of the Rice Lumber parcels, noting challenging cost structures for different development scenarios and the potential for collaboration with Shelburne Commons parcel owners. Committee members identified further steps including deeper discussions with parcel owners and other stakeholders.
On events and operations, Kate Elliott and Deputy Town Manager-Treasurer Patty Carpenter reported that the Farmers’ Market entered its third week with overall sponsorship at 105% of the goal and music sponsorship at about 33% and rising; volunteers and donations from committee members supported early operations and the group asked members to sign up for two-hour volunteer slots at the market. The Chair outlined Village Winter Lights plans, including an organizational meeting on June 8, an umbrella agreement with the lighting company that removes the prior $2,500 minimum participation tier in favor of lighter packages, and a committee conversation about the feasibility, cost and maintenance of adding an ice rink at the parade grounds.
