Council advances outreach for 6th penny tax; roads board seeks maintenance log and tourism board plans joint work with SVRA

The Roads Advisory Board is working on advertising and marketing for the measure and proposed hosting an open house night; Tourism Board members also discussed event grant applications and heard a presentation from Duke Dance of SVI Media on targeted digital advertising. The boards discussed coordinating with SVRA on events and advertising.
At its Sept. 3 meeting the Roads Board made a motion asking the public works department to implement a maintenance-tracking log. The minutes note the mayor questioned whether that recommendation is within the board’s purview and Administrator Aitken said he is concerned about the value and potential extra work for staff.
On local regulations the council discussed whether to give the building official authority to issue citations for building-code violations (a change that would require a motion at a regular meeting). Councilman Rok said she is researching an ordinance to allow chickens in town limits; Wyoming Game & Fish raised concerns about predators and disease and a former NRB chair described a restrictive permit-based approach the town could consider. Council members also discussed parking issues caused by vendors and contractors and the need for education to reduce unsafe or obstructive roadside parking.
No final ordinances or council votes on the outreach, maintenance-tracking recommendation, poultry rules, or code-enforcement authority were recorded in the work-session minutes; several items were flagged for future action or further drafting.
