BASWG reports SignSearch outreach, community engagement, and video work

At the June 12 BASWG meeting, facilitator Brenda Zollistch provided a SignSearch and outreach update: sign posts and signs have been installed, community members are engaging with the built-in survey and landing pages, and Pulse is processing videos to include on the SignSearch site. Brenda said she presented the SignSearch effort at the NEIWPCC Nonpoint Source Conference in Freeport, Maine, where other communities expressed interest.
Brenda reported that several BASWG MS4s held street and stream cleanups this spring (Brewer, Hampden, and Orono) while others did not (Bangor, Eastern Maine Community College/EMCC, Hermon, Veazie, and Old Town). Initial analytics show users are entering information on the citizen engagement survey and visiting the landing pages; Pulse is also producing a separate video about stormwater legislation that will be interspersed with other content. Megan Hess and Brenda are coordinating with Pulse on those materials.
Members were reminded of grant-reporting deadlines tied to the outreach work: a final report to the Sage Foundation is due June 15 and the Davis Conservation Foundation grant report is due December 31. BASWG plans to incorporate SignSearch materials into its public-facing pages and follow up with Pulse on video processing timelines.
