Council unanimously approves Goldwood School traffic signal and county stormwater services
Summary

At the Feb. 9 meeting the Rocky River City Council moved two consent-agenda ordinances and approved them unanimously (6–0).
Ordinance 1-26 authorized the mayor and director of public safety-service to enter a contract with Perram Electric, Inc., for the CUY-US20 Goldwood School traffic-signal program for a total not to exceed $298,929.18 (including a $15,000 contingency). Mr. Hunt described the signal as warranted by traffic studies to improve pedestrian and motorist safety at the Center Ridge Road intersection near Goldwood School.
Ordinance 3-26 authorized an agreement with the Cuyahoga County Board of Health for Phase II stormwater services for 2026–2027 for $2,685. Mr. Moran said the agreement supports NPDES permit requirements and assists with water-quality station identification (E. coli testing and monitoring opportunities).
Votes and procedure: President Shipp moved for passage and Mr. Furry seconded. Roll-call votes were recorded as Hunt – aye; Moran – aye; Shipp – aye; Morris – aye; Havemann – aye; Furry – aye. Both ordinances passed 6–0.
Why it matters: the traffic-signal installation is intended to improve safety at a school crossing; the stormwater agreement helps the City comply with state and federal NPDES requirements and identify potential water-quality issues.
