Commission staff said the Mayor asked the Park Commission to consider including the proposed building addition in the Parks Capital Improvement Plan. Staff provided a preliminary estimate for the addition of roughly $320,000 but cautioned that contractor support could lower the cost.
Commissioners discussed practical concerns, including potential vandalism if restrooms are left open during summer months and a need to consider cameras or other security measures. Staff also noted the Senior All‑Night Party will stage in the arena building and that the facility is expected to be cleaned soon.
No formal vote or CIP commitment was made at the meeting; commissioners asked staff to continue evaluating the cost estimate and security implications before any formal request to Council.
