Commission approves prior minutes; financial report flags near-exhausted line and recurring user issues remain

At the Jan. 27 meeting the Vinalhaven Sewer Commissioners approved the minutes from the Oct. 28, 2025 meeting and received a brief operations report from John Hughes of Maine Water.
Town Manager Marjorie Stratton presented the Financial Report and told commissioners the Pump Station and Line Cleaning line is almost expended but there are no line cleanings currently scheduled. She reported that other budget items are tracking at about 50% where they should be for this point in the fiscal year.
Under user issues the minutes state there are no changes from the previous meeting; the same user issues and foreclosures are reported as before and no new cases or dollar figures are included in the minutes.
Commissioner Pam Alley said she will contact a state representative about changing the Water District Charter and will research what Baileyville did regarding shutting off users with liened or foreclosed accounts. The meeting was adjourned at 10:25 a.m. and Deputy Clerk Elizabeth Bunker signed the minutes for the record.
