PZC hears updates on zoning violations and a vacant Land Use Administrator post; FOIA inquiry on town counsel invoices submitted

At its April 6 meeting the Litchfield Planning & Zoning Commission received administrative updates on enforcement and staffing. Chairman Carol Bramley said she is continuing efforts to bring exterior lighting at the 199 West Street gas station into compliance. First Selectman D. Raap asked Bramley to investigate a Route 254 property that is in bankruptcy and scheduled for auction; DOT has been asked for comment on the situation.
Commissioners were informed that the Land Use Administrator position has been vacant since Jan. 16, 2026. Dr. D. Tobin had been expected to be reinstated to the position on April 1 but reconsidered and withdrew from the agreement; the position has been reposted with no deadline specified.
The commission packet included correspondence from M. Peloquin that submitted a FOIA inquiry requesting all invoices submitted from Attorney Byrne’s office to the Land Use office concerning pending Milton Road litigation and the attorney’s hourly rate. The commission also voted unanimously to approve the March 16, 2026 minutes and adjourned at 8:43 p.m.
