Township accepts NJDOT Local Aid grant and awards striping contract for Musconetcong River Road

At its May 13 meeting the Lebanon Township Committee authorized insertion of a $241,263 New Jersey Department of Transportation Municipal Aid grant into the municipal budget to fund Musconetcong River Road resurfacing and adopted related procurement actions to complete the project.

Resolution No. 72-2026 authorized the budget insertion and appropriation for the NJDOT Local Aid award for the Musconetcong River Road resurfacing project. The committee then rescinded an earlier award to Dan Swayze & Sons, Inc. after the Morris County Cooperative Pricing Council (MCCPC) issued Master Contract #36 to Denville Lining Painting, Inc.; the township had not issued a purchase order to Dan Swayze & Sons before the MCCPC award took effect.

Resolution No. 74-2026 approved an MCCPC-based purchase from Denville Lining Painting, Inc. for traffic striping of Musconetcong River Road in the amount of $4,526.29. The chief financial officer certified funds are available from the NJDOT grant; the motion to adopt the Denville contract passed unanimously (mover McKee, second Webb).

Township members also authorized advertising for bids for asphalt road materials for 2026–2027 road projects (Resolution 80-2026) to support the resurfacing program. The committee instructed the DPW and township engineer to coordinate on the project schedule, purchasing and contractor coordination.

No construction schedule was announced at the meeting; residents were directed to the township clerk for project timing and contractor contact information.
