Woolwich Township Committee agreed to auction one plenary retail consumption liquor license and discussed related implementation terms during the April 21 meeting.
Mayor Matthias said the Committee would auction one license with an undisclosed reserve price; any sale would require Committee approval before completion and the buyer would have five years to put the license into use. The Committee did not set the reserve publicly at the meeting.
Under new business, a former zoning officer proposed adding an expiration date to zoning permits. Committeeman Frederick asked that the draft ordinance remove the word "significant" and use clearer, more definitive language; Mayor Matthias said she would return the suggested wording to Mr. Miller for revision.
During public comment, a resident asked about enforcement of a tree-trimming ordinance and whether signage at Locke Avenue Park and a traffic study would be required for a planned expansion. Mayor Matthias said residents were notified before violation notices were issued, and Township Engineer Mark Lardo said the contractor and engineer would address any traffic-study questions at the pre-construction meeting.
What’s next: The Committee will develop the auction process and reserve-review path for the liquor license, refine the zoning-permit language with Mr. Miller, and respond to the resident questions through Administration and Engineering as appropriate.
