At its June 15 meeting the council approved a package of contracts, personnel authorizations and event agreements.
Janitorial contract: The Department of Public Services requested a three‑year extension with PuroClean that includes a 7% increase; the department said PuroClean was the low bidder in 2023 and recommended renewal under the same terms with the added increase. Council moved and supported the extension and approved it unanimously.
Firefighters tentative agreement: The HR director presented a tentative agreement with Trenton Firefighters Local 2701 covering non‑economic language clean-up; council authorized the mayor and city clerk to execute the final agreement.
Pay adjustments: Mayor Pro Tem Hornbeck moved to approve a 3% across‑the‑board increase for all nonunion and permanent part‑time employees effective July 1, 2026; council approved the motion to mirror bargaining‑unit adjustments.
Festival contracts: Parks & Rec presented invoices and approvals for festival sound/lighting/stage ($10,500) and entertainment payments to headliners and family acts (payments detailed in committee materials). Staff said festival costs will be offset by sponsorships and event revenues; council approved those expenditures.
Youth Commission appointments: The mayor nominated Samantha Parker, Lawrence Sargent and Chris Schakowsky to the Youth Commission for terms expiring July 1, 2027. The deputy clerk called the roll; the motion carried with one recorded abstention.
Deputy Chief Canning also presented a recommendation to adopt a new personnel‑management software package to meet accreditation requirements; he said vendor onboarding includes a $3,000 startup fee to migrate existing data and that the city would retain ownership of its data. Council approved proceeding with the new package.
